Shrink! 1.1-4 (2001)

The "Shrink" videos, named after a 1998 album and a term for a psychoanalyst, combine text with found footage of New York City before 9/11. The videos use four songs – "Chemicals," "No Encore," "Shrink," and "Your Signs" – to present texts ranging from a book by Susan Buck-Morss about Walter Benjamin to a 1988 interview with art historian Kellie Jones. In the interview, Jones challenges white cultural dominance, contrasting with The Notwist's gentle guitars and electronic beats.
