Illyricvm (2022)

It's 37 BC. A young Liburnian named Volsus joins a Roman unit tasked with collecting taxes, but their mission takes an unexpected turn when they encounter the local Illyrian tribes. The Illyrians prove to be far more resistant to Roman rule than anticipated, and through Volsus's perspective – a young man viewed as a primitive barbarian by the Romans – we witness their unique culture of both gentle customs and harsh laws. Gradually, the film reveals that their world shares surprising similarities with our own.
