In an exclusive gated community in China, young Nita has a disturbing encounter with a mysterious creature while playing by the lake. Her French mother, Marie, grows worried and begins investigating the secrets hidden beneath the water. Marie's search creates friction within the close community, highlighting cultural differences and earning her suspicion from the residents who are hesitant to trust her. Driven by her desire to protect Nita, Marie overcomes language barriers and navigates the community's complexities.
