Hasselager appears peaceful, but hides a history of strange occurrences. This seemingly ordinary town has a mysterious past involving witchcraft, guardianship, and a unique connection between a Persian woman and a remarkable fish. Once accused of witchcraft, the Persian woman is bound to Hasselager, tasked with protecting the local lake and its creatures. The fish becomes central to her life. When a red-headed girl is forced into an unwanted marriage, she steals the fish to escape, setting off a series of events that endanger the town's fragile harmony and its mythical residents.
