Description:

In 19th-century times, a couple's shipwreck leaves them stranded in the African wilderness. The pregnant woman gives birth in a tree house, but both she and her child die soon after. A troop of apes finds the human family, and chaos ensues, resulting in the parents' deaths. The mother ape adopts the infant and raises him with the animals. Twenty years later, Captain Phillippe D'Arnot discovers the grown man, who believes he is an ape. The captain finds evidence in the tree house indicating the lost man is descended from the Earl of Greystoke. Driven by compassion, Captain D'Arnot sets out to return the man to civilization and help him understand his true identity.
