Description:
In a remote Quebec mountain town, Michelle works hard to support her family: her developmentally-challenged brother Guy and her teenage daughter Manon. They make a living running a small firewood business and taking on odd jobs. Michelle navigates complicated relationships with the local police chief Maurice and Gaetan, a family friend who is also interested in her. Manon, intelligent but struggling in school, experiences emotional turmoil. She feels jealous of her mother's suitors and resentful of the responsibilities she carries for Guy and the household, straining their relationship. A significant event forces Michelle and Manon to confront their weaknesses and deal with the results of their decisions.
