Description:
During a time of intense war, Lise Cohen is held in a unique prisoner-of-war camp for Jewish women. The camp also functions as a brothel for German soldiers before they go to war. Commandant Starker and Alma rule the camp harshly, but their control is challenged by Lise's strength. Starker becomes increasingly frustrated as he tries to break Lise's will with cruel experiments. Instead of giving in to fear, Lise begins to outsmart Starker and find a degree of safety within the camp. However, this doesn’t erase the painful memories of her ordeal. This story explores how people survive in terrible situations, examining power, guilt, and resistance during a dark period in history.
