Description:
The director of the Paris Opera, Stéphane Lissner, commissions visual artist Clément Cogitore to stage Jean-Philippe Rameau's baroque opera-ballet, Les Indes galantes. Drawing from his own short film, Cogitore reimagines the 1735 masterpiece by blending lyrical singing with urban dance. Choreography is by Bintou Dembélé, who works with dancers from styles like krump, popping, voguing, and experimental hip hop. Philippe Béziat documents the collaboration between these urban dancers and the traditional opera world, offering audiences a unique artistic and human experience from rehearsals to the premiere.
