Frail Hope (2025)

In early spring, a solitary person lives in a quiet house, deeply absorbed in two very different films: "A Ilha dos Prazeres Proibidos" (1979) and "Carson City" (1952). They illegally obtain a copy of "Ilha dos Prazeres" while casually downloading the classic western. As both films play, we see brief scenes from each. The person occasionally pauses to consider the connection between the stories before resuming their day. A feeling of sadness lingers as they leave their door open – perhaps welcoming connection, or perhaps maintaining distance. This film examines isolation and how cinema offers an escape from daily life.
