Description:
In 1950s Romania, Năiţă Lucean, a determined peasant, fights to protect his way of life against the government's forced collectivization of farmland. He believes giving up his land and animals will only cause him trouble, so he stubbornly holds onto his small, barren plot as the only thing he truly owns. The film examines individual freedom versus community needs, and how people cope when their world changes.
