Florinda’s daughter (2025)

"Hija de Florinda" is a poetic film about the link between protecting the land and raising the next generation. Set in the Florida Everglades, it follows a young girl named Naomi as she learns from her grandmother an old practice of controlled burns to heal the environment. The movie includes archival footage of Dominican farmer and abolitionist Mama Tingo (Florinda Soriano), asking viewers to grieve with the Earth as she calls everyone together to protect their home. The story shows not only the beauty of nature but also how cultural traditions help us care for the environment and share responsibility.
