Description:

In a quiet Parisian suburb, Dr. Cordelier isolates himself to study the human mind. His friendship with Maître Joly strains as Joly observes strange behavior from the brilliant, reclusive scientist. When Cordelier writes a will leaving everything to the mysterious Monsieur Opale, Joly grows increasingly confused and worried. Joly's suspicions deepen upon learning of Opale’s history of violence against women and children, but Cordelier remains devoted to him. After a tragic event involving one of Cordelier's colleagues, Joly resolves to discover the truth about his friend’s connection to Opale. What he discovers is unsettling, forcing him to confront questions of loyalty, right and wrong, and the mysteries of the human mind. The film explores friendship, betrayal, and the extreme measures one scientist will take to understand the brain.
