Description:

Four hours from Addis Ababa, a spirited 14-year-old girl is returning from school when she is abducted by men on horseback. Determined to fight back, Hirut takes a rifle and accidentally shoots her intended husband. In her village, the tradition of bride kidnapping is deeply rooted in Ethiopia's history. Meaza Ashenafi, a strong and determined young lawyer from the city, arrives to defend Hirut, arguing she acted in self-defense. Meaza confronts the conflict between legal authority and local customs, jeopardizing her women’s legal aid work to try and save Hirut.
