Deceiver (1997)

In a city riddled with corruption, the murder of a prostitute sparks a demanding investigation. James Wayland, heir to a textile fortune, becomes a suspect, drawing the attention of detectives Braxton and Kennesaw, partly due to his connection to the victim. As the detectives investigate the murder, Wayland presents a compelling puzzle – intelligent but troubled, with a history of epilepsy that deepens his enigmatic persona. More than just a suspect, he skillfully manipulates the interrogation, turning the questioning into his own game. While trying to break Wayland and uncover the truth, the detectives begin to confront their own darker impulses, finding unsettling parallels with the prime suspect.
