Description:
Set in the Gorbachev era, this comedy follows Ivan Mirosnikov, a lively young man unsure of his future. Facing mandatory military service without a college degree, Ivan struggles to find his place while navigating social pressures. Living with his divorced mother and working as a newspaper courier, Ivan's life changes when he meets Professor Kuznetzov and his daughter Katya. Their lives intersect because of Ivan’s job, leading him to a game of cleverness with the professor. Ivan impulsively tells Katya's father he is romantically involved with her, just to annoy him. Surprisingly, Katya plays along, creating a series of humorous complications and misunderstandings. This character-driven story explores finding oneself, societal expectations, and relationships against the backdrop of a changing Russia.
