Bárbara (1980)

Joe Valente, a man of Portuguese and American heritage, sets out to modernize molice picking – a traditional job in his community. Driven by ambition and new ideas, he wants to turn this old practice into a successful business. But his plans have unforeseen effects on those who have always relied on the traditional way of collecting molice. The film explores the challenges of keeping traditions alive and the conflict that arises when new ideas meet old ways, as Joe deals with the impact of his efforts on the people he hopes to help.
