Description:
Leipzig, December 1734. Christmas unites the Bach family as snow falls. Gottfried and Elisabeth are excited for their older brothers Friedemann and Emanuel to arrive. The Thomaskantor is working in his music room, with Anna Magdalena assisting him as he races against time to finish his new six-part "Christmas Oratorio." City officials and members of the consistory are wary, fearing the oratorio will be too theatrical after his previous work, the St. Matthew Passion. Bach hopes the oratorio will secure him a position as court composer in Dresden, relying on his family's help to complete it. However, disagreements among the family members increasingly threaten the oratorio’s completion.
