Description:
Set in late 1980s Hannover, Germany, the film follows a group of young hackers. Karl Koch, an orphan who inherits a flat and a home computer, discovers online bulletin boards and becomes fascinated by conspiracy theories from "Illuminatus." He teams up with his friend David, and their activities evolve into hacking government and military computers. Karl's friend Pepe, interested in making money, sees opportunity in computer cracking and tries to connect with the KGB in East Berlin. The film explores the complicated relationships between these friends, their ambitions, and the increasingly blurred boundaries between their beliefs, criminal actions, and the power of technology, all against the backdrop of Cold War tensions.
