Colony is a marginal departure from your classic zombie flick. While intelligently written, there's not a lot on offer here, aside from a zombie hive mind proposition, that distinguishes this outbreak zombie horror disaster drama from others in the genre. That's not to say it's not worth a look if you like this kind of thing. If this film was released in 1979-85 I probably would have loved it. Now that I'm 61 instead of 14, I see the world much differently. I really wanted to like this, since CE3k is one of my all-time favorite movies and Spielberg has never let me down so far. The production was terrible. One of the few series that you can consider perfect. Its about a boy who is sent to another world without his consent. The way he reacts, the way he thinks might be confusing at first but it will all make sense overtime. The series never provides you background of characters at start. It shows you there habits, mannerisms and lets you figure out the reasons why a character is the way they are until their backstories start getting shown. Technically gorgeous, spiritually empty There is no denying that you can see the budget in the movie, being spent on the fantastic-looking special effects. While the location of this movie is fantastic, and the casting certainly is above par, the movie struggles to build actual tension, and thus there is nothing to be scared for or by.
