Will Gluck's dystopian rom-com works better as a showcase for its leads than as commentary on its own premise, and that's fine by me. Monica Barbaro delivers a career-best performance, and contrary to some of the backlash, her chemistry with Callum Turner is one of the film's real strengths, not a weak spot. Clever soundtrack choices set the tone, though an overstuffed first act and a few distracting subplots keep this from being more than a fun little watch.
